A lifelong interest in wood working, and the great outdoors, hunting and fishing, since a young age, has no doubt played a role in my progression to the art of bird carving.
Working in the building industry with my father during my school years, leaving school in the mid 70’s to pursue several careers, entering the Joinery industry in the early 90’s, then going on to owner/operate a joinery manufacturing company for 26 years.
In the late 80’s a Taxidermy and Bone Carving hobby was the start of creating three dimensional sculptures, eventually moving on to carving fish, specifically Trout, then progressing to birds.
In 2019 I attended a bird carving seminar under the guidance of Master bird carver Floyd Scholz, in Bennington, Vermont, USA. Several online carving seminars followed the Vermont trip, with other American Master carvers, which added to my knowledge of this art form.
Having an eye for detail, and being critical of my own work, has been invaluable for the ongoing progression and improvement of each new piece.
If you would like to contact me to discuss a commission, I look forward to hearing from you.
